MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS, ON SAFEGUARDING THE HUMAN PERSON IN THE TIME OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Magnifica Humanitas is the first encyclical of Leo XIV’s pontificate. In it, the pope provides a groundbreaking analysis of our times — the “change of era” fueled by technology — and applies the principles of the Church’s social doctrine to the challenges we now face. 

Digitalization, artificial intelligence, and robotics are not intrinsic enemies of humankind. Yet they amplify a call to shared discernment and frame a fundamental choice:  

Will we construct a new Tower of Babel or rebuild the walls of Jerusalem?
