EPIPHANY HOUSE BLESSING KIT
It is traditional at Holy Hill for the Prior to literally mark the occasion of the Feast of the Epiphany (which will be January 3 in 2021) by blessing the monastery and chalking the doors. Throughout the monastery you will find this written on the lintel of each doorway with chalk. The symbols represent the initials of the traditional names of the three Magi: Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus mansionem benedicat—“May Christ bless the house.” Families can adopt this custom at home, too. This kit includes blessed chalk, holy water and the blessing prayer with instructions.
